Katty English’s Story
Katty English's
Story
In 2010, experienced English teachers Tom, Tim, and Chris decided to establish a new kind of English conversation school. Having taught in various educational settings across Japan—including English conversation schools, elementary schools, junior high schools, and high schools—they were convinced they could create an environment that offered high-quality English education at an affordable price.
This vision led to the opening of Katty English in Hon-Atsugi in 2011.
Unlike traditional methods that focus solely on textbook learning, the founders saw the need for interactive and practical conversation practice. They wanted to provide a fun, engaging environment where each student could learn at their own pace, building confidence through real communication experiences.
The first Katty English school in Hon-Atsugi quickly gained popularity thanks to its small class sizes, welcoming atmosphere, and effective teaching methods focused on conversation skills and communication. To further support Japanese learners, they developed original textbooks designed to teach practical, everyday English in a fun and relatable way.
Katty English’s mission is to help students use English confidently in daily life, work, and travel. With the success of the Hon-Atsugi school, they expanded to open branches in Sagami-Ono and Isehara, offering personalized, conversation-centered lessons where students can relax and enjoy learning.
